Distraction Is The Universe Testing Your Commitment
Last Night: Tomorrow I'm going to get up and knock out my daily writing quota (currently 650 words) immediately after coffee.
This Morning: Crazy Uncle calls. Raves for an hour about the same things he raved about last week when he called (and of course doesn't remember last week's call). Issues of significant importance (to him), but that I can't do anything about. I didn't even mean to answer the damn phone. But he'd already left three messages, and I accidently hit the 'call' button when trying to hit the 'ignore' button.
By the end of the call, I'm agitated, in no mood to write. And I have to reschedule everything else I had planned for today. But I said frock it. Writers write.
End Of Day: Got my words--PLUS--an an extra two-hundred to boot. Felt good. And now I get to spend time with my sweety, guilt free.
The moral of the story?
You can always find "good reasons" to let slide the things that really matter in life…
But if you do, you kill two (hundred) words with one phone!
